    ReplyDelete
  6. I'm not done with this yet... but it's amazing!!!

She pays a lot of attention to detail- especially where food is concerned- it reminds me of J.K. Rowling's, in that way.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!! it is a good book so far but im only on page 86....... but i love it

    ReplyDelete
  8. What's making the book so good?

    ReplyDelete
  9. so you love it when they kill small children?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Its super goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood!!!!!!!!!

And they dont kill small children, one person is like 12 and everyonelse is 16 or 18. The 12 year old lasts pretty long in the games.

    ReplyDelete
  11. The story doesn't skimp on the detail... while it is still rather violent, it's really a good portrait of an alternate reality/ Sci fi futuristic story. Yay :)

    ReplyDelete
  12. i like the author because she explains every single detail...... she also has a good story line so far

    ReplyDelete
  13. lol...Gabby has a point. The things that shock us the most are typically what we like to read (or watch on tv). It's kind of like when people slow down to look at an accident on the side of the road.

    ReplyDelete
  14. i love action books and this is going to be like an action book and i also like the main character because she is kinda calm and nice most of the time in the book so far

    ReplyDelete
  15. it's kind of creepy... but that's just human nature, I guess O.o

    ReplyDelete
  16. i agree with the comments on detail. Suzanne Collins is very good with explaining details. She doesnt skip a detail. The way she describes the food is ah-mazing!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I agree Anna Rose...it is human nature.

    ReplyDelete
  18. What makes this book good?? I know that everyone is crazy about it but why? Just wondering

    ReplyDelete
  19. well i like how katniss and peeta came into the opening of the hunger games those outfits seem so cool with the capes on fire

    ReplyDelete
  20. Me too! Those "fire" outfits are another good example of the author's attention to detail.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Alana- I guess it's just because of how, despite it being fictional, the story is just believable. You don't get the sense of it being sloppy. It's very easy to get into the story, is what I'm trying to say- I think :p Once you get into the story, it really pulls you in :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. THEY KILL SMALL CHILDREN HOW CAN YOU NICE THINGS ABOUT A BOOK THAT KILLS SMALL CHILDREN!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. its not small children they kill but they still kill people so gabby has a point!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. im reading this book only so i can see how bad it is! they kill small children........

    ReplyDelete
  25. they are not small children they are kids and teens the ages 12 to 18 so they are not "small" children!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Wow... Well, Gabby & Sarasue- let's hope this isn't a possible future. :p It's Sci fi- you'll get used to it :D

    ReplyDelete
  27. If you guys like this book, you should definitely read the second one. I actually liked that one better. It's called Catching Fire.
Then the third book Mockingjay will come out August 24, 2010.

    ReplyDelete
  28. gabby,gabby,gabby.......u will LOVE this book. dont worry-AND THEY DONT KILL SMALL CHILDREN!!!!!! o my goodness!! its pretty much teenagers except 4 the 12 yr old!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thats kind of like calling your self a small child, the people in the games themselves are basically people the same age as you or older, People die in tons of books, and in this one you kind of get the sense that the main character doesnt like the situation. There are only a certain amount of people in the games that are excited to kill people.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'm definitely adding them to my "library" at home :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ok...let's move along/away from the "they (do or do not) kill small children" argument... :D

    ReplyDelete
  32. its kind of even a love story, just more blood.... and killing.

    ReplyDelete
  33. gabby u will like this book even if they kill one 12 year old

    ReplyDelete
  34. as soon as im done with hunger games i want to read catching fire at my house

    ReplyDelete
  35. Im reading pretty little liars... or at least i'll start it.

    ReplyDelete
  36. i agree with stopping the argument!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. COOL I KNOW YOU'LL L-O-V-E PRETTY LITTLE LIARS

    ReplyDelete
  38. I'm on page 123.

    ......................................................................................................................................................THIS BOOK IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Isn't it though?! I'm dying to read the next in the series.

    ReplyDelete
  40. i am done reading this book it was soo good i read most of it last night ITS THE BEST BOOK EVER

    ReplyDelete
  41. wow i'm lovin this book and im only on pg.57!!!!
i love it that two charecters in this book may be in love!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I think that definitely adds to the suspense of the book. I mean, how hard would it be to be falling in love with someone that could potentially be your killer (or your prey)?

    ReplyDelete
  43. its a great book and i cant wait to read catching fire

    ReplyDelete
  44. This is so good. I'm only in the 200's but I love this book! IT"S FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. it would be awful to know you like a person who you may have to kill or kill you or somebody else might kill them!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I just finished this book today. There is no doubt that this book is in my Top 10.

    GO HUNGER GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot wait to read the rest of the series.

    ReplyDelete
  47. My mom and I are going to buy Catching Fire this weekend... I cannot wait to read it! I saw it at Wal Mart the other night... I grabbed it and was walking around the store reading it ^.^

Definitely a strong story... there's so much going on :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. after this class im going to read the rest of the series

    ReplyDelete
  49. i love this book and can't wait to read the next book in the series!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  50. i love this book it is one of the best books i have ever read soo i cant wait to read the next one..........

    ReplyDelete
  51. Hunger Games [and the sequel, I think] are checked out at most of the nearby libraries, and there's a waiting list. Still, you could probably get it really cheap on Amazon, I think.

    ReplyDelete
  52. ill probably just read my sisters copy of catching fire cause i think she has it i hope...

    ReplyDelete
  53. i wanna know what team your on gail or peeta. i'm on peeta i don't know why though i just am!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I think I'm "Team Gale" [ew, that sounds like a Twilight thing x.x] I dunno... I mean, Peeta is sweet, and really seems to care about Katniss... But really, Gale has been her best friend pretty much Forever. I guess I just go for the guy-friend, then boyfriend type of "romance." Not that it's worked for me before x_x still...

    ReplyDelete
  55. Uh oh...I see t-shirts coming out to rival the Twilight ones. =)

    ReplyDelete
  56. um....... im on peetas side because i think katniss and peeta are starting to understand each other more but on the other hand gail has known katniss for like ever soo they have a good friend relationship soo i really dont know whose team i am on

    ReplyDelete
  57. Then again, I've only read the first one, so far... so that may change? I dunno :p

    ReplyDelete
  58. I really am on Peeta's team. I have read the second book though, and that has a little influence on my decision. I think that it was really thoughtful of Peeta when he gave the bread to Katniss. I dont think that she could have fed her family if he hadnt done that. I think that Peeta did those things to Katniss in the Hunger Games because he cared. He wanted to make sure that the Careers didnt kill her. And he was sweet in the end, even when Katniss did that to him.

But Gale is still good, tho. BECAUSE he just is.... i will not put the real reason on here because my real reason is in Catching Fire.

YOU HAVE TO READ CATCHING FIRE!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I'm probably going to go hide in my backyard for a few hours as soon as I get Catching Fire home... I'm not going to stop until I'm done reading it :D

    ReplyDelete
  60. I think I may go crazy if I don't get to read that book soon... O.o

    ReplyDelete
  61. did u know that they're going to make a movie out of the hunger games i cant wait

    ReplyDelete
  62. best book EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  64. We should make a CFK class called Books That Were Made Into Movies: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

    ReplyDelete
  65. that would be cool if we did that

    ReplyDelete
  66. Ms. B- That sounds like a great idea!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Was that a book first? Sara and i could've used that one.....

    ReplyDelete
  68. That would be sweet. What if we could make trailers for books that we like and make advertisements for movies for them. That would be epic!

    ReplyDelete
  69. totally epic! I wish I could take if it became a class... :p you guys will just have to tell me about it :)

    ReplyDelete
  70. hunger games will be a movie look at this website
    http://www.mahalo.com/hunger-games-movie

    ReplyDelete
  71. if there is a midnight movie playing of the hunger games ill be there

    ReplyDelete
  72. are we seriously taking sides about whether we like Gale or Peeta better? This is turning into a Twilight all over again.

    ReplyDelete
  73. THE MOVIE TRAILER IS AWSOME CANT WAIT TO SEE IT YAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  74. 1. It's not like Twilight! it's more dignified!!! and it's actually really important to the plot, not just a girly romance thing. Seriously. :p

    2. I finally got my hands on a copy of Catching Fire!!! I got it last night but was too tired to read a lot x.x But I have barely put it down since I've woken up today! I am nearly done :D

    ReplyDelete
  75. I read Catching Fire all day Saturday ^__^ I LOVE IT!!!

    ReplyDelete
